|Postcards of the Past
|There is a surprisingly large number of old postcards with a tennis theme, perhaps reflecting
the popularity of the game in the first half of the twentieth century. Some examples follow.
|I think this is Jaroslav Drobny, who was Wimbledon Champion
in 1954 - no idea who his partner is though.
|Tennis Courts at Wildwood, NJ.
|An undated aerial view of Wimbledon.
|"The Davis Cup at Roland-Garros. Between games, the great
champion Jean Borotra eats some sugar for strength. Marcel
Bernard drinks a glass of water. From behind, Rene Lacoste,
team captain." No date, unfortunately.
|Another aerial view of Wimbledon.
|A rather uninspiring postcard of Wimbledon.
|In conjunction with Zazzle, we have produced an extensive range of gifts, using images from these
old postcards. The items available include many reproduction postcards, coffee mugs, greetings
cards, key chains, fridge magnets, watches etc. Many images on these pages have a direct link to a
reproduction postcard - just click on the image to see and buy it ! (They are only about £1 each !)

|Wladimir Galdarow. As far as I can ascertain,
this man was an actor - although no doubt he
played tennis too.
|Queen's Club, London.

|We are in the middle of redesiging all our web pages, including
removing much advertising which we know can be annoying. As a
result many pages - like this one - are not as we would like. Please
bear with us, it takes time and we have about 1400 pages to work on.
